Keep a condenser and a set of points in the glovebox. The moment you don't have them on you, that conversion will burn out and leave you stranded...miles from anywhere. Don't ask how i found that out.

When you mentioned the loose distributor it reminded me of my 1993 GMC Sonoma. Right after I bought it I did a tune-up and changed all the fluids just to be sure everything was fresh. I fired it up and it was a little off, I leaned in to look everything over and my hand made contact with the one terminal on the distributor cap I had forgotten to plug a wire onto. (Those 4.3l V6's run pretty dang good on only 5 cylinders. Also, that fucking hurts). At the same time I discovered the distributor was totally loose. But the distributor being loose was the only thing wrong with the truck. It was my daily for 7 years and nothing huge went wrong with it. I should not have sold that thing.
